Presentation by Carlo Hamelinck (then Ecofys, now studio Gear Up) on Indirect Land Use Change (ILUC) from biofuels and its implications for sustainability.
This report focuses on how market opportunities can be capitalized on and how to promote technology transfer for developing countries interested in engaging in advanced biofuel markets for the attainment of the SDGs, and as an instrument to meet their commitments under COP2.
These are the slides for Ilkka Hannula's presentation at the Live Lunch Seminar held in Pakhuis de Zwijger on November 22nd 2022. See the event page for more details.
ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation: producers and distributors of SAFs, airlines, and biofuels producers urge EU policy-makers to adopt a dedicated sub-target for Advanced Biofuels to achieve GHG reduction targets, while fostering green growth and the bio-economy.
With this letter, over 550 scientists urge the EU to make better use of its forest reserves, arguing that properly managed forests are better for biodiversity, can supply wood for sustainable building and products, as well as residues that can be used to replace fossil fuels.
Hoe kan de inzet van biomassa in Nederland zo optimaal mogelijk bijdragen aan het behalen van de beleidsdoelstellingen richting 2030 op het gebied van voedsel, energie, klimaat, mobiliteit, biobased en circulaire economie?
Substantial potential exists to expand both food and fuel supply in a sustainable fashion. This report examines different biofuels pathways.
Eni is considering building a new biorefinery to replace an oil-based facility in the Italian city of Livorno. As part of a wider decarbonisation strategy, the Italian energy major aims to increase biofuels and SAF production.
Een cijfermatige beschouwing van duurzame biomassabeschikbaarheid binnen en voorNederland -dus inclusief import- en de mogelijke toepassingen daarvan.
This study serves to provide new insights to the European Commission and other stakeholders about indirect carbon and land impacts from biofuels consumed in the EU, with more details on production processes and representation of individual feedstocks than was done before.
Local rural communities can benefit from the reintegration of abandoned lands into the agricultural system. The notion of win-win situations returns in this second Biomob, where we analyse and discuss the potential of mobilising wet biofeedstocks.
The IEA Bioenergy Technology Collaboration Programme has recently published an open-access article in the Journal GCB Bioenergy. This paper is an output of IEA Bioenergy Task 45 ‘Climate and Sustainability Effects of Bioenergy within the broader Bioeconomy’.
The EU Trilogue on Fit-for-55 started in Brussels. NGO's started to campaign against biofuels in the transport sector. We see the urgency to exit fossil use much faster and therefore argue to start discussing a larger systemic change to green carbon use.
